Should you revisit this theme it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on "Here Comes The Weekend" by The Jam. It's a sober look at what a teenage weekend promises. One of my favourite songs on the LP "This Is The Modern World".
Fun!! I only know the Edmunds and Dictators tracks, so I have some catching up to do. As the perfect Sunday morning comedown, Incan only recommend the wonderful Weekend, the band Young Marble Giants singer Alison Statton formed after the band broke up. That Dave Edmunds tune approaches perfection & is my all-time favorite weekend song. My weekend comes in six-packs rather than fours, so I’d add Eddie Cochran’s “Weekend” & “48 Hours” by The Clash…
Joe, thank you for your link to Tommy Shannon talking about his radio theme and Wild Weekend. I had not heard the original "Tommy Shannon Show, KB Radio” theme since 1962 and it was a thrill to hear it again. Great post with four inspired choices.
The Everlys never liked being pigeonholed- besides their original songs, they recorded covers of a wide variety of performers' hits. When their run of hits ended, they cut some fine country-based material as a return to their origins, but the audience somehow wasn't interested.

I love that song!
Everything feels right now
I know why I'm alive now
Everything else is a lie now...

That'll do nicely! Cheers!

Glad I could put it back on your radar! Thanks for reading.
